Architecture (Wuhan) BA (Hons)

Students are supported by classroom lectures, seminars and workshops and work through personal and group investigative study. Included also are studio design projects in which students learn to integrate all the constituent subject areas into a meaningful architectural whole.

The first four years are concerned with gaining and developing the skills, knowledge and understanding required to complete and communicate a complex architectural design. This will also include particularly in Year 1 and 2 Chinese Public course teaching.

At Honours level an international experience places a greater emphasis on the development of these skills and encourages each and every student to develop an individual position within the complex and evolving profession of architecture.

Student learning is both directed and independent.

Teaching is delivered both through engagement with studio projects and practical exercises; and through classroom, lecture and seminar delivery. One to one, small team and group tutorials/seminars are used on a regular basis.

Students will be required to work in a variety of media: drawn, 3-dimensional and digital. Regular and comprehensive visual and verbal presentations of their work are made, recording the development of the project over the year.

Students will also be required to produce project-related statements and reports which examine both generic issues and how knowledge gained in the complementary cognate areas have been assimilated within their own design work.
