About this course
Students aged 19 or over should have a keen interest in Aromatherapy together with a good level of education comparable to GCSE of pass level or above.

Introduction:
Aromatherapy is the specialist application of essential oils and is used in a variety of contexts including uplift, relaxation, stress relief, remedial (not subject to medical prohibition) and palliative care. This course provides the essential skills needed to provide professional Aromatherapy treatments.
Study Mode & Location:
This 16 weeks course run 9 hours per week. It will be held at Preston College, Park Campus, Moor Park Avenue, Preston, PR1 6AS.
Clients should also note the model requirement outlined in the assessment paragraph.
Course Content:
The critical aspect of this qualification is the decision-making concerned with the safe blending of essential oils and their appropriateness based upon client assessment. The qualification requires 30 treatments by the use of case studies, i.e. 5 clients x 6 treatments. Units of study include:
- Support health, safety and security in the workplace (VR02).
- Support employment standards (VR74).
- Assess the client and blend oils for aromatherapy massage (VR27).
- Provide aromatherapy massage (VR28).
- Demonstrate consultation skills for therapy assessments (M160).
Assessment:
All units are internally assessed by an assessor observing and questioning your practical work. There are also assignments and Units VR02 and VR74 are externally assessed by a single test paper. All practical assessments must be carried out on paying clients, which you will be asked to provide.
Careers & Progression Opportunities:
Successful completion of this course allows progression to the VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Holistic Therapies and to other related Beauty qualifications.
Additional Costs & Resource Charges:
The cost of this course will be £520. (Unless you are in receipt of means tested benefits). You will also need the following equipment/materials.(Please note: costs are approximate and will be confirmed at induction).
- Aromatherapy Kit approximately £55.
- Aromatherapy Package from £5.50
- Tunic tops from £29.95 (including postage and packaging).
- Stationery up to £10.
How To Apply
You will need to have an informal interview with a Adult Admissions Adviser.
Many courses have limited places so please enquire as soon as possible. Following interview, the earliest you may enrol is mid-June.
