Course description Your passport to an art and design degree course; This study option builds on your prior experience and offers an exciting range of art and design practice including fine art, 3D design, textiles and design for communication., , A key strength of this course is its emphasis on encouraging your individual development as an artist. 3. Entry requirements A minimum of five GCSEs at grades A*-C including an art subject and English Language at grade 4 or above or successful completion of BTEC level 2 Diploma/First Diploma., , You will also be required to organise a portfolio of Art & Design work ready for your interview., , We would like to see the following in a portfolio:, Good drawing skills from life, Creative page layouts for graphics, The ability to discuss the work of artists, designers & makers, Examples of 3D work where possible, sketchbooks from year 11 onwards, Evidence of a visit to a museum or gallery, 4. Equipment required No equipment required 5. Assessment method Each project brief covers units that build through the two years of the course to provide an 18 unit award. All units are assessed at either Pass, Merit or Distinction grade with a final grade awarded at the end of the course. Students progressing into higher education should achieve Merit grading and above to gain sufficient UCAS points.
