This course will give opportunities to study Fine Art and Photography. Art and Design is an essential requirement if you hope to follow careers in fields such as Fine Art, Photo-journalism, Photography, Product Design, Fashion Design, Fine Craft Design, Art Therapy or Art Restoration. It is also useful as one of the entry qualifications for other careers such as Architecture or Teaching. This course is suitable for GCSE Art is preferred but is not essential. It is useful to have your own digital camera.

ART AND DESIGN

Who is this course for?

GCSE Art is preferred but is not essential. It is useful to have your own digital camera.

How long is this course for?

'AS' Level - 1 year, 5 hours per week
'A' Level - 2 years, 5 hours per week

What will I study?
'AS' Level comprises two units:
  • Art and Design Coursework
  • Art and Design Externally Set Project

'A' Level requires two more units to be studied to a higher level in the second year:
  • Art and Design Coursework (practical work and personal study)
  • Art and Design externally set assignment

How will I be assessed?
'AS' Level - 1 assessed unit and 1 practical examination.

'A' Level - 1 further assessed unit and 1 further practical examination. All work is internally marked and then assessed by an external examiner.
