Delivered by artists of international standing, this course embraces all areas of contemporary art practice. You will be supported to help develop your creative skills as you gain a conceptual and contextual understanding of visual culture. We offer opportunities to exhibit your work as you progress, culminating in our Degree Show in the final year.
Our workshops are equipped to support your practice however you choose to develop it:
Woodworking, from picture framing to complex sculptural constructions
Printmaking, including etching, screenprint, lithography, and photographic processes
Sculpture, including clay, plaster, metal, ceramics and bronze casting.
Media labs for digital editing
Green Screen studio for film and photography
Sound Studio
Darkrooms for analogue photography
Digital Makers suite for 3-D and laser-cutting
Philosophy modules introduce you to advanced philosophical approaches towards contemporary issues within art, ethics, film, literature, technology and the sciences. You will choose modules that develop your personal areas of interest and these will inform the theme of your Dissertation at Level 4, where you will be supported to undertake self-directed research.

Students can enter the course after successfully completing our Art and Design General Foundation course or an equivalent elsewhere.
You will enrich and expand your personal visual language, and begin to learn about key thinkers and themes from the history of philosophy.

Level 2 develops your creative skills that empower you to work progressively towards a self-directed practice, and you will be introduced to a range of contemporary artists as your personal vision evolves.
You will explore a variety of existential philosophies and how the issues raised can be seen in contemporary forms of society and culture. You will explore philosophical questions concerning beauty and aesthetics, and how these ideals have come to influence the various contexts in which art operates.

In your visual practice you will develop a personal programme of research with multi-discipinary options. You will enhance your professional knowledge and skills.
Philosophy modules explore issues that are central to contemporary social and cultural interactions, and these may influence the conceptual development of your studio practice.
Level 4- Honours Creative Practice (core)
- Dissertation (core)
The studio module provides you with a period of sustained visual enquiry that will culminate in the exhibition of your work for Degree Show examination.
You have the option to write a dissertation that either closely reflects on your creative practice or considers a philosophical argument.
