About this course
Standard entry to this course requires a minimum of 32 UCAS points from a recognised level 3 qualification in a related subject (i.e. two A2s at grade D, extended diploma PPP, or an Access to HE). You are expected to hold GCSE English and maths at grade 4/C or equivalent. We welcome applicants who do not match standard entry requirements but who can demonstrate ability to study this subject at university level and who can evidence relevant experience.

Course programme
Year 1
You will develop a broad understanding of creative industries through core units and will be able to pursue specialist pathways. The course offers open access to a range of workshops including print, 3D, photography, textiles and ceramics so that you can develop a single specialism or work across several areas.
You will explore approaches in contemporary art practice and develop an understanding of independent research through workshops, peer critiques, group discussions, talks and lectures.
During year one (level 4) you will cover a minimum of 120 credits which is made up of 8 units each with a value of 15 credits.
The units covered in year one will include:
• Professional Development
• Contextual Studies
• Individual Project (external set)
• Techniques and Processes
• Media Practices
• Material Practices
• Art/Craft Production
You will also cover one optional or specialist unit.
During year two, you will have the opportunity to focus on a single specialist pathway following the specialists units or continue with a multi-disciplinary approach to making artwork. You will produce a self-directed work body of work in response to the externally set unit, the Applied Practice Collaborative Project.
