Applications are now open for 2018 students who are self-funding or sponsor-funded. The programme is aligned to the Royal College of General Practitioners, GP competencies and also the East Midlands Advanced Clinical Practice Framework (HEEM 2014). The course is suitable for Nurses, Paramedics, Pharmacists and other allied health professionals working within a General Practice or Urgent Care setting. The aim of this programme overall is to prepare registered nurses and allied health professionals to develop advanced skills required to work as an autonomous practitioner in urgent primary care. This will allow employers in the future to expect a safe, competent practitioner and a certain level of consistency in terms of knowledge, skills and competence from the advanced clinician in urgent primary care. After completion of the core modules, students will either complete the non-medical prescribing pathway OR a range of choice modules dependent upon their previous experience and regulatory body. Students will require a GP to mentor and support them and this GP should be based at the same practice or the same group of practices. Students will be required to work with this GP mentor at least one day a week seeing urgent and unscheduled illness. This does not need to be direct supervision and can be indirect. UK/EU. International.
