Programme at a Glance

Induction: first 2 weeks of September - Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday evenings, 6-9pm or flexible.

PG Cert, PG Dip, and MA:

  • Lectures, Seminars, and Discussion Groups: 12 weeks from September until January – Tuesday evenings, 6-9pm or flexible.
  • Seminars, Lectures, and Discussion Groups: 12 weeks from September until January – Wednesday evenings, 6-9pm or flexible.
  • Practical Skills Sessions, Role-Play Workshops, Seminars, and Discussion Groups: 12 weeks from September until January - Thursday evenings, 6-9pm.
  • Formative Assessments: at week 12 in January, students submit work-in-progress and receive 3 comprehensive written reports detailing all that is required to maximise achievement by the time of actual assessment in April.
  • Independent Study with in-person, email, or telephone tutorials: 12 weeks from January until April and throughout the whole course.

Assessments: at week 24 during April, students: devise, manage, and facilitate a project (such as a painting workshop for enhancing educational achievements amongst children with Asperger's Syndrome) and submit bound project management documentation of 2,000-3,000 words/ equivalent; write a journal article of 2,500-3,500 words/ equivalent; produce a research funding bid with ethics forms; and receive 3 assessment reports with grades.

Graduation: students can choose to graduate at the Graduation Awards in December (or by special arrangement in July) or transfer to the Postgraduate Diploma, or Master of Arts in Arts-Health, or apply to undertake an MPhil/ PhD in Arts-Health. This is also an excellent opportunity to apply for funding.

PG Dip, and MA ONLY:

Practical Skills Sessions, Lectures, Seminars, & Discussion Groups: 12 weeks from January until April – Tuesday evenings, 6-9pm or flexible.
Action Learning Sets, Practical Skills Sessions, Seminars, and Lectures: 12 weeks from January until April - Wednesday evenings, 6-9pm or flexible.
Formative Assessments: at week 24 during April, students submit work-in-progress and receive 2 comprehensive written reports detailing all that is required to maximise achievement by the time of actual assessment in July.
Practice Placement and Independent Study with in-person, email, or telephone tutorials: 12 weeks from April until July and throughout the whole course.
Assessments: at week 36 during July/August, students realise a project (such as a public health art exhibition pertaining to Cerebral Palsy) and submit bound project documentation of 2,500–3,500 words/ equivalent; reflective practice of 3,500-5,000 words/ equivalent; and receive 2 assessment reports with grades.

Graduation: students can graduate at the Graduation Awards in December or transfer to the Master of Arts in Arts-Health, or apply to undertake an MPhil/ PhD in Arts-Health. This is also an excellent opportunity to apply for funding.

MA Only:

Specialist Guidance, Discussion Groups, Seminars, and Lectures: 36 weeks from September until July – Friday evenings, 6-9pm or flexible.
Formative Assessments: at week 24 during April, students submit work-in-progress and receive a comprehensive written report detailing all that is required to maximise achievement by the time of actual assessment in July/August.
Assessments: at week 36 during July/August, students realise a project (such as a theatre performance about Tourette's Syndrome for reducing stigma) and submit bound supporting documentation of approximately 3,500 words/ equivalent or a dissertation of 10,000-12,000 words/ equivalent; and receive an assessment report and grade.

Graduation: students can graduate at the Graduation Awards in December and apply to undertake an MPhil/ PhD in Arts-Health. This is also an excellent opportunity to apply for funding.
