Students must have a minimum of 5 A-C individual GCSE subject passes, including a minimum of 2 grade Bs one of which must be a Double Award Science or Single Science (Biology) and a C in Maths

Who is the course for?
This is an exciting and fascinating course designed for students who have an interest in exploring how living things work and how they impact on each other and everyday life.

What is the course about?
The study of life on earth is both fascinating and popular. This course is devoted to exploring ourselves and our impact on the natural world; you will explore how living things function and you will investigate how the human body works. You will also conduct practical investigations that will look at issues such as pollution, genetic engineering and biotechnology.

Will I need anything else?
You must purchase your own lab coat and safety glasses.

How long & often do I attend?
There are approx 4 hours and 30 minutes of lessons each week for the two years of the course.

How will I be assessed?
You will produce one piece of coursework based on a practical investigation in each year. You will also be required to sit examinations in year one and year two.

What opportunities will this lead to?
You could progress onto a degree in Medicine, Dentistry, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Forestry, Marine Biology, Veterinary Science, Agriculture, Biology, Biochemistry or Genetics. Following this you could enter employment as a laboratory technician, teacher or within your chosen medical profession.
