Students must have a minimum of 5 A-C individual GCSE subject passes, including a B in Art and a B in either Maths or English.

Who is the course for?
This course is for students who have a genuine interest in art and design or would like a career that requires the ability to think creatively and diversely.
What is the course about?
This course is designed for students who enjoy working creatively in a friendly and dynamic environment, using a wide range of materials and media such as painting, drawing, textiles and photography. You will have the opportunity to visit a number of local art galleries to develop your knowledge of different artistic styles.
Will I need anything else?
There will occasionally be the need to purchase equipment such as sketchbooks and basic drawing materials.
How long & often do I attend?
There are approx 4 hours and 30 minutes of lessons each week for the two years of the course.
How will I be assessed?
All students will be required to produce first hand coursework for each module, which will be kept in a portfolio. Assessment objectives will be explained and work will be regularly marked and reviewed. Feedback will be given on a one to one basis. You will also be required to produce supporting studies sketchbooks, critical study and art history notebooks.
What opportunities will this lead to?
You could progress onto a BTEC Art Foundation Studies course to develop your portfolio or you may gain entry onto a BA Hons degree in Art and Design, Advertising, Architecture, Fashion and Textiles, Interior Design or Teaching. Following this you could enter employment in an art related area such as an art gallery or in marketing.
