Why choose Physics?

A Physics qualification is highly valued by many employers and Higher Education institutions. There is a tremendous demand from universities for students with some Physics background.

Extra-Curricular Activities

Apart from a visit to somewhere such as a nuclear power station as part of the AS coursework, there are also trips to talks at such places as Birmingham University.


Assessment
There are three modules in the AS course, one of which (20%) is coursework. As well as testing practical skills this coursework also tests research and communication skills. There are a further three exams in the A2 level year, and more coursework in the form of an extended practical investigation.


Progression Opportunities
A high percentage of students will go on to university to study Physics or closely associated subjects, such as Mathematics or branches of Engineering, for which A level or AS Physics is often a prerequisite.
