These courses are for adults who want to brush up on their basic Maths skills or want to achieve a Maths qualification up to GCSE Level. There are no formal entry requirements. All students have an assessment of their Maths skills in order to find the most suitable level of course.

Course Description
Skills for Life Maths (Numeracy) courses help people to improve their skills and confidence in everyday maths. Students receive lots of support in friendly, informal groups.

Entry Level courses can help you to:
Solve everyday number problems
Add, subtract, multiply and divide
Use simple fractions and decimals
Measure length, weight, temperatures
Know about 2D and 3D shapes
Use charts, diagrams and table.

Level 1 and Level 2 courses can help you to:

Carry out calculations with decimals, large numbers and negative numbers
Use ratio and proportion
Use percentages, fractions and decimals
Calculate areas, perimeter and volume
Know more about plans and diagrams
Collect and record data and use averages.


How is the Qualification Achieved ?
At Entry Level:
Students complete assessments during the course on a variety of Maths topics.

At Levels 1 and 2:
Students take a National Test when they are ready.

On Successful Completion of this Course
Students could go on to:
Study Maths at a higher level
Move on to other courses
Use their qualification to get on at work
Support their childrens learning with more confidence.
