Asbestos Awareness Training Course

Duration - Half Day

Asbestos Awareness Training is mandatory for any person who disturbs the fabric of a building (Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006) including building contractors, plumbers, electrical engineers, and decorators to name just a few. We strongly recommend that supervisors & managers also attend this course as it covers important legal aspects that the regulations place upon them.

Topics covered:

• The properties of asbestos and its health effects
• The types of products or materials likely to contain asbestos
• The operations which could result in asbestos exposure and the importance of pre-emptive controls to minimise exposure
• Managers Responsibilities (how to protect workers and avoid a prosecution)
• The role of Asbestos Surveys and how to understand what is in them
• Safe work practices, control measures, and protective equipment
• The purpose, selection, limitations, proper use and maintenance of respiratory protective equipment (RPE)
• Emergency procedures in the case of an asbestos incident
