PRESENTATION
The A1 Award is designed to offer those individuals who are, or will be, concerned with assessing learners taking National Vocational Qualifications, a programme of training in skills, techniques and principles of assessing competency using a variety of assessment methods.
To undertake the A1 Award you will need to meet the occupational competence required as set out in the assessment strategy for the National Vocational Qualification you are assessing.
Example - if you are assessing in care you must be occupationally competent in this area.
How will the Award be delivered?
You will be allocated an assessor and she will visit you in the workplace to support and guide you through the award.
You will also require two NVQ candidates, preferably within your work setting, however if this is not possible, Quantum will assist you in accessing two candidates if geographically possible.
You will have to produce a portfolio of evidence which meets the standards set down in the award, your assessor will guide you through this process.
What does the A1 Award give me?
On successful completion you will have achieved the Certificate in Assessing Candidates Using a Range of Methods (A1 - Vocational Assessor Award).
In addition to the Award being a qualification in its own right the A1 Award enables you to progress to further qualifications as it is integral to both the Internal Verifier and External Verifier Awards.
It is also an optional Unit towards NVQ Level 3 and 4 in Learning and Development and NVQ Level 3 in Direct Training and Support.
