Diploma in Accounting Level 4 - Further Educations & Training (FET) Certificate: Accounting Technician is the second level of the AAT(SA) Accounting Qualification.
It introduces you to more complex accounting tasks, such as maintaining cost accounting records and the preparation of reports and returns. This course is perfect if you’ve completed Level 3, or you’re already at a more intermediate level and looking to develop existing accounting skills.
What will I learn?
You will study two optional modules which include business tax, personal tax, cash and credit management and external auditing. The options are chosen as a group with tutor guidance.
The Level 4 Business Skills qualification consists of the following units:
- Working in teams
- Planning and delivering business communication activities
- Evaluate and improve own performance in a business environment
- *Spreadsheet software (*APL if completed at Level 3)
- Presentation software
- Deliver a presentation
- Organising and facilitating meetings and workshops
- Developing commercial awareness
- Managing project finances
Career Opportunities
There are wide and varied career opportunities for AAT students including: Accountant, finance manager and bookkeeper. Accounting is also a useful skill for someone in a general business management role. Some students go on to set up their own business as a bookkeeper or undertake the accounting for a family business.
On successful completion of AAT level 4 there is the opportunity to progress to chartered status.
