About this course
Students need to have successfully completed AAT Intermediate Level or hold a degree in Accounting. Proof of these qualifications will be required to be shown at the time of interview.

About the course:
This course is for anyone who is looking to complete their studies in AAT Accounting in order to gain full Qualified status.
Course Content:
The course consists of six units, four of which are compulsory with the remaining two being chosen from an option of three units.
Common Core Units
Unit 8 - Contributing to the management of performance and the enhancement of value. This unit is a costing unit and will be assessed by a central exam scheduled and set by AAT.
Unit 9 - Contributing to the planning and control of resources . This unit is a costing unit and will be assessed by a central exam scheduled and set by AAT.
Unit 10 - Managing systems and people in the accounting environment. This unit is a project based unit on your working environment. For those students who are not working in an accounting environment this project can be based on a scenario provided by the college. This unit will be assessed internally.
Unit 11 - Drafting Financial Statements (accounting practice, industry and commerce). This is a Finance Unit and will be assessed by a central exam scheduled and set by AAT.
Choice Units
In addition, students must choose two units from the following three units:
Unit 15 - Operating a cash management and credit control system. This unit is a Finance unit and will be assessed internally via a skills test.
Unit 18 - Preparing Business Taxation computations. This unit is a finance unit and will be assessed by a central exam scheduled and set by AAT.
Unit 19 - Preparing Personal Taxation computations. This unit is a finance unit and will be assessed by a central exam scheduled and set by AAT.
Equipment Requirements:
A calculator with standard +-X/% and memory functions is required and should be brought to every session. Home or work-based computing facilities for word processing and spread sheets will be useful, but not essential as all students will have access to the College IT facilities. Students who can access the internet will be able to use the CityBit2 material.
Assessment:
A combination of examinations, simulations and course work.
Progression:
As your career in accounting progresses you might move on to certified and chartered accountant qualifications.
Additional Information:
Part-time - either afternoon and evening one day a week or two evenings per week.
This programme is also offered on a modular basis for those students who wish to spread their learning over more than one year. All modules will need to be completed within three years of commencing the programme to attain successful completion of the qualification.
Exam fees will be payable direct to the AAT (up to five exams depending on optional units chosen). An annual AAT member registration will also be required and this is payable direct to AAT.
Enrolment Instructions:
All students will be required to attend an interview before being accepted on the programme. If your chosen course of study is modular, course dates and times can be discussed at interview.
