Avid Introduction

Course review:

This introduction course will give the students an orientation with this industry standard editing software. We will be using Avid Media Composer 5. This is a practical course with students working with video on individual Macs.

By the end of the training the students will have an idea of:

* Orientation and setting up Avid the way you want it
* Some digital video formats and the importance of timecodes
* Setting up Avid to connect to cameras or tape decks or hard drives and other software for ingesting
* Managing and organising your media within bins
* Simple editing practices
* Editing and trimming within the Sequence
* Basic transitions, the Title tool and how Avid uses effects
* How powerful editing can be
* Mastering and how to output material
