A one-year course, running for three terms. Three and a half hours tuition per week, currently scheduled between 13.45 - 17.15 on Wednesdays. A mix of theoretical study and practical performance, with the emphasis on the latter. This course will typically appeal to applicants who already have a degree of ability on their instrument or voice, and wish to gain experience,technique and language in the jazz idiom.

Course programme
How will I study?
The core units are General Musicianship and Practical Performance. There are also seperate workshops for horns, guitar and rhythm section. There is also a choice of one of the following classes: Keyboard skills/Theory (basic to advanced)/Aural Individual lessons are available at extra cost.
How will I be taught?
By our team of expert tutors. Typically the core units will be in a class of 10 - 15 students, although if the cohort is larger, the practical Performance unit will be divided into two groups. The elective classes tend to have smaller student numbers.
How will I be assessed?
Continuous informal assessment of practical and written work. Video/audio recording at least one live performance per term. Aural and written feedback helps to identify strategies for continuing development on an individual basis.
