Course Content Year 1The first year introduces you to the study of crime, criminal behaviour and the criminal justice system. You'll take modules on:
  • theories of crime and offending behaviour
  • understanding the criminal justice process
  • the reporting and recording of crime
  • victimisation
  • social research methods
  • key skills in studying social sciences
Year 2In the second year, you'll cover:
  • punishment and society
  • criminal evidence and investigation
  • crime, politics and victimisation
  • dangerousness, risk and public protection
  • social research methods
You can also choose one optional module from those that include:
  • ethics in criminal justice
  • drugs and drug use
  • true crime/representations of crime
  • ‘prostitutes, pickpockets and Peelers’
  • crime and policing 1750-1950.
