Course Content Our staff use a variety of teaching methods, with practical sessions in newly refurbished teaching laboratories alongside learning in lectures, tutorials and seminars. We use a variety of methods to assess your progress, including exams, assessed essays, laboratory reports, projects and extended research.Students have the flexibility to change pathways after the second year of study and switch to any of our Electronic Engineering courses.Years 1 and 2During the first two years, the course focuses on developing the basic principles of electronics along with experimental skills, circuit design, control, computer system design, communications and mathematics.Final YearFinal-year modules allow you to develop your strengths and interests in greater depth. Options include Robotics Control; Embedded Systems; Electrical Machines; Instrumentation; and Communications and Optoelectronics (electronic devices that interact with light, central to many devices in common use: for example, bar code readers, DVD players and infrared security cameras).
