Course programme
The staff use a variety of teaching methods, teaching in lectures and in small seminar groups to provide opportunities for interactive learning and active engagement. English modules feature equally with Film Studies choices.
In your first year you will take three core English modules: English Landmark Texts, Introduction to Renaissance Literature and Introduction to Literary Studies. You will also take two core Film Studies modules plus one of your own choice.
After your first year you get a wider choice of modules enabling you to delve fully into literary history and film exploration. Film Studies options include American Animation History; East Asian Cinema; Analysing Television Drama; Hitchcock: Anatomy of an Auteur; Disney Studies; Spy Cinema; and a screen production project. In your final year you will also have the opportunity to undertake a research-based dissertation on a related topic of your choice.
