Our established History course combines the highest standard of teaching by accredited and active historians, with excellent facilities and research information, such as the multi-million pound state-of-the-art Hull History Centre. Course programme

Course Content

The staff use a variety of teaching methods, teaching in lectures and in small seminar groups to provide opportunities for interactive learning and active engagement. English modules feature equally with History choices. In your first year you will take three core modules: English Landmark Texts, Introduction to Renaissance Literature and Introduction to Literary Studies. You can also take up to three history modules per year of study. In the first year you can choose Representing the Past in Film or Exploring the Past. The choice of modules becomes wider as your studies progress. In your final year you will have the opportunity to undertake a research-based dissertation on a related topic of your choice. You will be assessed by a variety of methods: exams, essays, presentations, reports and the dissertation.
