Course programme
The Year 1 core modules include Skills for Biologists, which provides you with generic skills for studying biology. There are also introductory modules on: Cell Structure and Function, Diversity of Life, Principles of Genetics and Ecology and Evolution. You also have the opportunity to become an Advanced PADI Scuba diver by taking the subsidised Dive Training module as part of your degree if you wish.
Year 2During Year 2, you can begin to build your own degree, tailoring it to your specific interests. The core modules are Professional and Research Skills for Biologists, Study and Employability Skills, and Molecular Genetics and Proteomics. Your options include: Behavioural Ecology Evolutionary Biology, Animal Form and Function Molecular Cell Biology, Conservation Biology Fish Ecology.
Year 3You can select your choice of Year 3 modules from a wide range of options, including residential field courses around the world, Biology in Education or a work placement module, or choose between modules studying in depth the aspects of biology that interest you most. You will also have the opportunity to undertake a research project within your area of interest, working closely with a member of our academic staff.
