About BA Czech and French
Expertise in modern languages has never been more important as the United Kingdom forges a new relationship with its European partners and seeks to develop its trading and cultural ties throughout the world. Bristol is one of the UK's most successful and respected centres for the study of modern languages and cultures.
On our Joint Honours degree in Czech and French you will discover the diversity of Czech literature, history, cinema and society from the 19th century to the present. With a wide range of units on offer you will be able to select authors, topics and texts to suit your interests.
The French course offers a broad range of French studies through the study of language, history, literature and culture, from medieval literature to modern cinema.
In year one you will take units in both languages and then choose from a range of options in years two and four.
During your third year you will spend five months in the Czech Republic, either at university or on a work placement. You will spend the remainder of your third year in a French speaking country.
In language classes you will develop speaking, listening, reading, writing and translation skills using a range of textbooks, media and internet resources.
