BA (Hons) - Business and/with Management, Finance or Marketing

This is a vocational degree, designed to equip you for a career in industry, commerce or the public sector. The course will provide you with a detailed understanding of business models and marketing principles and how to apply them.

Our degrees in business share a common first year to allow students to take an informed decision about the specialism they wish to follow at levels 5 and 6. Modules undertaken in the first year include:

• Skills for Business and Management
• Introduction to Business Law
• Organisations, Markets and the Economy
• Business Finance and Accounting
• People Management
• Principles of Marketing

You will then have a choice of Management, Marketing or Finance as your specialism.

Students who choose Business and Management will have the opportunity in their second year to study modules including:

• International Business and Globalisation
• Planning and Making Decisions
• Introduction to Financial Management or Brand Management
• Management and Organisational Behaviour
• Entrepreneurship
• Marketing Management or Management Accounting

Third year modules available to Business and Management students include:

• Contemporary Issues in Management
• Management Enterprise Project

Students who choose Business with Finance will have the opportunity in their second year to study modules including:

• Management Accounting

Third year modules available to Business with Finance students include:

The BA (Hons) Business with Finance programme has an accreditation from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) which means students completing the programme will get an exemption for five certificate level modules (C01-C05).

CIMA is the world’s largest professional body of management accountants offering the most relevant accounting qualification for a career in business. By studying the CIMA qualification and going on to become a CIMA member, you will be able to use the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation and be part of a truly global network. The CGMA designation is powered by two of the world’s leading accounting bodies – CIMA and AICPA. It aims to establish management accounting as the most valued profession in business worldwide.
