About this course
You’ll be able to study and practice using a wide range of materials and techniques from knitting, weaving, dyeing, embroidery, printing, surface design, collage, paper making and drawing. As the course progresses you’ll find the emphasis is placed on you; you’ll pursue your own areas of interest, with support from specialist academic and technical staff.
In your first year you’ll develop your practical skills and thinking. Through practical projects alongside lectures on theory and history, you’ll gain new knowledge and hands on experience.
In years two and three we’ll encourage you to develop your individual areas of practice and contextual research through masterclasses and weekly group seminars, critiques, lectures and individual tutorials.
The course will prepare you for work as textile artists, designer makers or to work within the textile industry (for example, textile conservation; display; textile prediction and promotion). Students may also go on to set up their own businesses.
List of current alumni careers
Graduate careers include:
• self employment as practising textile artists and designers;
• curatorship;
