Overview
On this course, you will gain an understanding of the law as it applies to crime and the criminal justice system in England and Wales. You will also have the opportunity to undertake voluntary work within the criminal justice system and allied fields to support your academic studies.

Why choose this course?
This course will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of every aspect of criminology, including knowledge of crime, explanations for why people break the law, the workings of the criminal justice and penal systems in the UK and abroad, the foundations of criminal law, ethics in criminal justice and policing.

A key strength of this course is the work-based learning modules, where students typically work in areas such as youth offending, victim support, crime prevention, witness support and various policing support roles, including as special constables. The work-based learning provides an invaluable opportunity for students to gain experience in a crime-related field and enhance their chances of finding relevant employment after graduation.

Career and study progression
Your degree can take you anywhere, but some of the most popular careers for graduates include the administration of justice and the police service.

You may also wish to undertake postgraduate study to specialise in a subject you've already studied, or to explore something new.
