Overview

Events are hugely important attractions for tourism and play a key role in the marketing of destinations. This course looks at the important role of the event manager as a part of the wider tourism industry.
We take advantage of our London location, giving you the opportunity to attend high-profile events and a variety of venues to gain exposure to the industry in action. As well as live event projects, you’ll learn through practical teaching such as case studies and team projects, to understand the fundamentals of event management.
Why choose this course?
You will learn marketing, human resources, entrepreneurship, risk and change management and accounting and finance to give you the grounding needed to understand the scope of practical planning for events. You will also study the travel and tourism sector with an understanding of planning and policy measures, as well as the impact of events for legacy and regeneration.
Our established links with event industry associations such as Meeting Professionals International (MPI), the Event and Visual Communication Association (EVCOM), the International Live Events Association (ILEA), and the Association for Events Management Education (AEME) gives you networking opportunities for work experience and career development.

With a core understanding of the intricacies of event management combined with tourism, and exposure to an array of events across London, you will gain transferable skills for a range of careers in international or UK events management.

Entry requirements
You will need:
260 UCAS points normally in a minimum of two subject areas
plus GCSE English and Maths at grade A*- C, or equivalent.
International students
International students need to meet our English language requirement at either IELTS at 6.0 or above and a minimum of 5.5 for each of the 4 individual components (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening).
