This extended course is perfect if you want a degree in Fashion Marketing but you don’t meet the standard entry requirements.

First we prepare you for your degree during the Foundation year, bringing you up to speed with academic skills and a firm grounding in the subject. Then you can go on to do the full undergraduate degree.

In the full degree, we'll teach you how to retail, brand and merchandise fashion. You’ll discover promotional and sales strategies, learning how to take a new fashion product from the concept stage all the way to the high street store. You’ll do this in close collaboration with your fashion design and fashion textiles student colleagues at UEL. This is crucial for you to gain the clearest, broadest picture of an industry that, as marketers, you’ll need to understand inside out.

About this course

With a combination of theory-based and practical, creative modules, we’ll give you the ideal foundation to market fashion innovatively and effectively.

After the Art and design foundation year you’ll explore key debates in today’s fashion business, such as industry ethics, as part of your introduction to marketing.

You’ll learn about the ‘four Ps’ of marketing – product, price, promotion, place – and put together a fashion magazine, both online and as a hard copy. This will also give you valuable experience in working on photo shoots.

In your next year, you’ll look at areas such as visual merchandising, show production, fashion promotion on film and campaign management. You’ll examine how social media works in relation to fashion.

All that you’ve learned will feed into a big final-year project of your choice. For example, you could bring your skills together to formulate a major marketing strategy for a new perfume brand.

We expect our fashion marketing graduates to reap the same sort of success in the business that so many University of East London fashion students have enjoyed.

We’ve seen how having marketing know-how often brings out the entrepreneur in our designers. Some have set up their own businesses.

It’s a good bet that our dedicated Fashion Marketing course will also prepare graduates to take up careers in related areas such as merchandising, buying, public relations, fashion journalism, campaign management and trend prediction.

Three of last year’s graduates, who studied marketing as part of their design course, have already gone on to land jobs as buyers for Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie and Marks & Spencer.

History shows you get noticed on our fashion courses - especially when your abilities are showcased at the annual Graduate Fashion Week show, attended by some of the industry’s leading creative talents.

At Graduate Fashion Week 2015, one of our students, Chloe Draper, was declared the winner of the prestigious Fashion Marketing Award.

Fashion is a competitive world and everything we do is geared towards helping you succeed in it. Rebecca Ellwood, one of our graduates who is now working in PR for Value Retail, the owner of luxury shopping outlets in Europe, sums it up when she says, “Studying fashion at UEL is hard but rewarding. But, as they say, nothing worth having is ever easy!”
