The programme includes an exciting and diverse range of art and design based subjects and projects, some of which are ‘live’ for real gallery exhibitions or design briefs for clients. At the outset we aim to improve your existing creative skills and introduce you to many new and unusual approaches to making art. The programme is a balanced mixture of taught subject matter and individual assignments allowing freedom of choice and personal expression.
The range of units and topics you can expect to study include drawing and painting, graphic design, printmaking, contextual studies, principles of fine art, design methods, and specialist investigations into subject matter of your own choosing

About this course
This programme is full time and you will be in College for four days each week.
If you do not hold A*- C GCSE in English and/or Mathematics, you will also have to attend Functional Skills English and Mathematics classes as part of your course. If you hold GCSE D Grade in English and/or Mathematics, you will also attend GCSE classes to improve your grade.

Course programme
In year 1 you will complete the 90 Credit Diploma and in year 2 you will achieve the full Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art and Design. This qualification is equivalent to three A Levels.
You will learn in a variety of ways, including hands-on demonstrations, skills workshops, artist led and formal art lessons. There are many opportunities to learn from experience and as such museum trips, special events, gallery visits and off-site activities form a strong core of the programme.
Assessment is by coursework portfolio. Your work will be graded at either Pass, Merit or Distinction.
