You’ll learn how to design and create film and television content and formats. We’ll immerse you in film and TV practice and theory, teaching you how to apply a variety of crafts and digital technologies.

About this course
In the first two years, you’ll gain grounding in the core elements relating to film and television production. In your final year, you’ll have the opportunity to specialise, developing an individualised programme of work tailored to your interests.
You’ll develop practical and creative projects highlighting your technical and craft skills. Alongside this you’ll demonstrate critical and theoretical understanding. Throughout the course, you’ll have opportunities to work on group and individual projects, developing your skills and creative ideas.
You’ll develop skills for working life, such as decision making in complex and unpredictable contexts, working in groups, analysing data, and making use of technical and creative resources.
You’ll become a socially engaged global citizen, with intercultural and global understandings and perspectives, and an awareness of innovation and social entrepreneurship.
Will the course help you get the job you want? We think so. You’ll have the opportunity to learn different technical roles such as camera work, lighting and sound as well as a range of digital skills.
But more than this, you’ll explore and develop your creativity, communication and social skills in a context of professional practice.
The BA Film, TV and Digital Production is employability centred in its focus upon commercially informed creativity, film crafts and skills. In addition students will present a sound and rounded academic context to their work and the work of others; positioning them as the some of the most employable in the sector.
We accept a wide range of qualifications for entry to our undergraduate programmes. The main ones are listed below:
A Level - grades BCC - CCC accepted.
BTEC - Extended Diploma grades Merit, Merit, Merit (MMM) preferred in a related subject.
International Baccalaureate - A minimum score of 27 points preferred.

Course programme
- Year 1
In the first year you’ll study single camera production and TV studio production. In addition you’ll engage in some contextual work, for example film and TV theory and formats.
- Year 2
You’ll continue your work in single camera production and advanced TV production. Again you’ll study context in areas such as scriptwriting, popular cinema and world cinema.
- Year 3
Your final year will be project led. You’ll have the opportunity to engage in collaborative productions, undertake in-depth post-production activities and complete and individualised practice-based project. In these projects you’ll benefit from close staff supervision.
Assessment is through coursework. This will be a combination of project and group work, practice-based portfolios, seminar presentations and individual essays.
