About this Course (This course is validated by the University of Brighton and delivered by Northbrook College) UCAS code: W231Fees and Finance The BA (Hons) Textile Design course is a broad based textile and surface design degree that aims to give students the skills required to be the creative and innovative designers of the future. At the beginning of this course you will participate in a variety of exciting workshops alongside BA (Hons) Fashion students; these will equip you with the technical skills to allow you to develop and realise your creative potential. Workshops typically include: printed textiles, knitted textiles, stich, fabric manipulation, basic garment construction, paper printmaking and creative IT. Throughout the course you will explore areas such as: fashion fabrics, home furnishings, stationery, craft or art based products etc. Students will typically focus on an area of specialism choosing to focus primarily on print, knit or stitch with many choosing to follow a multi-disciplinary approach. There is a strong focus on preparing you for your future career with elements of work placement, industrially linked projects and personal development. Students will be encouraged to be innovative in the development of design work, supported through creative, theoretical and professional practices that inform the world of textiles and surface pattern. Students have won a number of awards including commendations from the prestigious Bradford Textile Society, as well as commissions from high street stores such as Wilkinson's and the accessories company Disaster Designs. The BA (Hons) Textile Design course is a broad based textile and surface design degree that aims to give students the skills required to be the creative and innovative designers of the future.
