BA Society, Culture and Media

  • I enjoyed my three years studying at UEA - a campus close to the countryside and a major shopping destination.
    |
  • The campus is incredible, set on beautiful grounds and a lake which is impressive in winter and summer. My advice is get stuck in with meeting people, especially in your accommodation.
    |
  • An excellent place to study and to live. The campus is small and so everything is close to accommodation. The 24hr library is the best, and who doesn't love bunny rabbits?

    Bachelor's degree

    Norwich

This very popular course provides you with core knowledge and understanding of the ways in which contemporary media connect to culture and society.
We do not just ask what media ‘say’ to their audiences, but what they do to those people and the worlds they inhabit. It is an interdisciplinary course, at the intersection of Sociology, Politics and Media Studies.
Your modules for the first year of your studies will be divided across these three disciplines. The flexibility of the course allows you to decide upon and construct your own path through your choice of modules in your second and third year. By studying the BA Society, Culture and Media you combine the study of culture and its politics with the study of cinema, television, and new media.
You also develop your skills in critical thinking skills and apply them to modern media and culture.
