All UEA language degrees are particularly distinctive because of the emphasis that our expertise in translation and language issues, and in intercultural communication, bring to the modules we offer. Such modules contribute to our BA in Translation and Interpreting on which you will develop your command of French and/or Spanish and/or Japanese and acquire professional expertise in translation and interpreting.
You will devote between one-half and two-thirds of your time to your chosen languages, aiming at equal competence in both, regardless of your starting point. Your language skills build up through the degree to specialised final year modules in translation, and in both public service, and in conference, interpreting.
You will develop your ability to develop sophisticated arguments in English and in your second language(s), a key employability skill; as are the tremendous flexibility and adaptability you acquire on a year spent abroad, for which we prepare you fully.
