Subjects

For each 8 point subject you are enrolled in, you should expect to spend 10 to 12 hours per week working on assignments and assigned readings, tutorial assistance, individual or group research/study, forum activity, workplace learning, and attending lectures, residential schools, or examinations.

If you are studying four subjects per session, this is equivalent to a full-time job. The workload for some subjects may vary as a result of approved course design.

As a Charles Sturt University student, throughout your course you have a responsibility to continue to develop skills in English language, literacy and numeracy as appropriate to your discipline. This ongoing development will enable you to effectively participate in your course and graduate prepared to enter the workforce.

Bachelor of Information Studies (with specialisations)

To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 192 points.

Associate Degree in Information Studies [Exit Point Only]

To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 128 points.Full subject list
The course consists of thirteen (13) core subjects (96 points) plus twelve (12) restricted elective subjects (96 points) comprising any twelve (12) subjects chosen from those listed in the specialisations. Students commence the course with a compulsory three-day residential school.

Students have the option to complete a specialisation in one of the following areas and graduate with a Bachelor of Information Studies (specialisation), or complete elective subjects chosen from any of the specialisations in order to graduate with a Bachelor of Information Studies.

Core Subjects
The thirteen core subjects consist of one 16-point subject, nine 8-point subjects, two 4-point subjects and one 0-point subject. This is the equivalent of twelve (12) 8-point subjects.
