In this intensive two-day course we cover the key issues, tools, and techniques used to create and manage a RRP and the real-life challenges faced by financial institutions in the RRP process. Following the credit crisis and subsequent rescue of failing financial institutions by governments, Recovery and Resolution Planning (RRP) rules are being implemented globally, which require banks, building societies, and investment firms to produce a Recovery plan and Resolution pack.

Approach to creating recovery and resolution plans: Definition of group structure, legal entities, business lines, and supporting infrastructure, Key objectives of an RRP. Building and Verifying a recovery plan: The aim of this section is to look at the steps required to build and stress test a recovery plan, and consider the viability of various recovery options. Building a resolution plan: The aim of this section is to look at the steps required to build a resolution plan and key requirements to consider. Regulatory interactions and toolkit: The aim of this section is to explore the regulatory bodies which are involved in the RRP process, as well as review the financial institutions toolkit for implementing their RRP. Practical challenges faced by financial institutions: The aim of this section is to review some of the practical hurdles which financial institutions encounter during the RRP process.
