Introduction
This course aims to teach the slinger(s) to safely sling and signal to cranes of various types. Successful completion of this course will provide your staff with the necessary knowledge to be able
to perform their duties safely and responsibly.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course delegates will understand:
l The statutory duties under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and other relevant legislation
l Know the key definitions and terms used for lifting operations
l Be familiar with the different types of lifting appliances and lifting accessories and how to select the appropriate equipment for different types of lift
l Fully appreciate the roles and responsibilities of all persons involved in lifting operations
l Understand what is required in planning and preparing for a lift
l Be familiar with the different types of sling and the applications and limitations of sling types
l Know the accepted methods of communication during a lift including internationally recognised hand signals
l Know the procedure for carrying out a lift safely
l Fully appreciate the risks and precautions associated with blind lifts
