Aim:
This unit will give you the basic French needed to exchange personal information, obtain and provide goods/services and understand simple written texts. The unit aims to provide French which is simple, but useful for everyday situtations.
Length of Study:
18 weeks with tutor support.

There are no formal entry requirements. No previous study or knowledge of French is expected.
Contents:
Talking About Yourself; Finding Out About Others; Ordering Drinks and Snacks; Finding Somewhere to Stay and Booking into a Hotel; Giving Directions; Telling the Time; Understanding Short Texts/Letters and Advertisements.
Study Method:
Home-based self-study with tutor support, which may be on-line or over the phone.
Students are expected to buy the coursebook used as a basis for the course: â€-New Breakthrough French' published by Palgrave.
Assessment:
There will be short assessments in each of the three main areas of language: exchanging personal information, obtaining and providing goods and services and understaning simple written texts.
Assessments can be adapted to take account of each student's particular areas of interest. The assessments will be carried out under supervision in an agreed venue.
Cost:
£150 + £12.75 SQA Fees.
