Course programme

The Basic Nail Technician course is a two day course and provides the student with practical training in the rudiments of manicure, pedicure, and silk or fibreglass, and UV gel overlay applications - the base requirements for creating beautiful, natural-looking nails, using low-odour overlay products.

During this course the student will also learn:


  • Salon hygiene.

  • Health & safety.

  • Equipment and supplies.

  • Preparation of treatment room.

  • Contra-indications and contra-actions

  • Client management.

  • Manicure and pedicure techniques.

  • Preparation of the natural nail.

  • Practical instruction on application of tips, silk and/or fibreglass, and UV gel overlays.

  • Instruction on permanent French finish.

  • Maintenance procedure.

  • Removal of nail extensions.

  • Aftercare guidance.
