To enable delegates with additional theoretical knowledge and enhance the practical skills used when carrying out diagnostic, repair and service procedures associated with vehicle electrical and electronic systems. Delegates will become familiar with a wide range of diagnostic procedures associated with fast fault finding procedures and relevant safety procedures in-line with the I.R.T.E. Elect. Suitable for: Technicians, Mechanics and apprentices who are engaged in the repair, service anddiagnostic fault finding techniques associated with electrical and electronic systems used on all Vehicles.

Objectives:
To enable delegates with additional theoretical knowledge and enhance the practical skills used when carrying out diagnostic, repair and service procedures associated with vehicle electrical and electronic systems.
Delegates will become familiar with a wide range of diagnostic procedures associated with fast fault finding procedures and relevant safety procedures in-line with the I.R.T.E. Electronic Systems Code of practice.

Day one
· Welcome and introductions.
· Setting and workshop expectations/related safety.
· IRTE Code Of Practice.
· Fundamentals of electricity.
· The multimeter and it's functions.
· Basic circuit building.
· Practical multimeter exercises.
· Dim Dip systems.
Day Two
· Multiplexing.
· Modern wiring diagram.
· Component testing.
· On vehicle component and ancillary testing to include:
-lighting.
-horn.
-gauges.
-level sensors.
-exercises and assessments.
Day Three
· Starter and alternator theory.
· Battery testing.
-carbon pile testers.
-amp clamp.
· Starter circuit testing.
· Alternator circuit testing.
-maximum output.
-regulation.
-volt drop checks.
· Air Bag - Supplementary Restraint Systems overview/safety procedures/exercises.
· Exercises and assessments.
· Course review and open forum. Additional Information:
