History
Basingstoke College of Technology (BCoT) was built in 1948 to support the local engineering industry. Nowadays students can find a relevant course at the College for most occupations. BCoT provides an inspiring environment in which to learn, with a warm atmosphere where you can benefit from excellent courses, high teaching standards and the opportunity to meet new friends. The College is located in the heart of Basingstoke, Hampshire, just a short walk from the town centre, bus and train stations.
Advantages of studying here
BCoT has received local and national recognition for the training and education it provides. In 2004, the College became a Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) for Construction, now superseded by the award in full of the Training Quality Standard Part B for Construction. A second CoVE was awarded for Retail and Associated Logistics in 2006. The College has also received national recognition for its Skills for Life training programmes for industry.
Areas of specialisation
It has a strong employer focus, being one of a small number of colleges which has been accredited with the National Training Standard (for employer responsiveness); it has specifically identified areas of vocational excellence - in Construction/Interior Systems and Retail & Associated Logistics. The college is a key provider of Apprenticeships. In addition, it gives a high priority to the 14-16 education agenda, leading on the introduction of some of the new Diplomas and providing vocational skills courses for pupils who may have become disengaged from traditional education.
Description
BCoT is a further education college located in Basingstoke and serving a wide area. The college’s vision is encapsulated in the words ‘first choice for your career'. The College primarily offers Further Education to deliver a diverse range of courses at all levels. In all, there are approximately 380 qualifications for both employers and employees and the provision also includes some Higher Education courses.
