About the course:
This course is designed for those looking for a career in beauty. It is mainly a practical course, and you will train in the college salon 'Transformation' which has excellent facilities for beauty and hairdressing students. The salon is open to members of the public and provides you with a real working environment. During this course, students will be expected to study the theory aspects through tasks set in class and independent assessment papers. You will also need to build a portfolio of evidence. This is a growing industry, and with successful completion of NVQ Level 2 or higher, there are many different opportunities to work in health clubs, spas, hotels, salons, cruise liners and much more.

Course Content:
Consists of 5 units: Ensure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety· Assist with salon reception duties· Prepare and maintain the beauty therapy work area· Assist with facial treatments· Assist with nail treatments on the hands

Equipment Requirements:
You will be required to wear suitable salon wear, which consists of a black tunic top, black salon trousers and black salon shoes.

you will also require a kit and textbook to support your learning and allow you to practice your skills at home.

Assessment:
Assessment is carried out through observation of practical tasks, completion of written tasks, oral questioning and independent assessment papers.

Progression:
You may progress on to NVQ level 2, level 2 complementary therapies, levl 2 nail services or level 2 make-up, subject to successful completion of this course and a progression interview.

Additional Information:
Attendance - One Year, Full Time. If you are under 19 at the start of the course, and studying a full time course, there are no tuition / exam fees. If you are over 19, you are liable for tuition / exam fees - please contact Student Services
