Course Content
Students are expected to attend a one day a week placement in industry and will also learn to demonstrate knowledge and understanding, alongside practical skills, in the following areas:

• Ensuring personal actions reduce risks to Health and Safety
• Promoting additional products or services to clients
• Contributing to the financial effectiveness of a business
• Epilate the hair follicle using diathermy, galvanic and blend techniques
• Provide head and body massage treatments
• Improve body condition using electro therapy
• Improve face and skin condition using electro therapy
• Provide self tanning treatments
• Anatomy and Physiology

Interesting Facts
To enhance learning, we arrange extra curricular activities throughout the duration of the course. For instance, a range of workshops, talks and visits including RVI Anatomy, Seaham Hall, Steiner, Sterex, Dermalogica and a variety local community involvement.

Assessment
Assessment is based on practical competency as well as formal assessments and external written exams.
Progression To
Employers value the NVQ because it proves that students can perform the job to a high industry standard. TyneMet has very good progression links to employers including cruise ships.
