About this course

- Identify the key stages in Beethoven’s life
- Identify the formal, harmonic and melodic characteristics of certain key works by Beethoven
- Recognise the impact that the Romanticism had on Beethoven's output
- recognise the characteristics of the Romantic style in Beethoven's music.

Please bring a notebook and pen.
You may wish to buy some of the music or books recommended in class.

- Case studies of key works, placing them in their appropriate context, historically and musically, and analysing them in terms of their musical style and content.
