Suitable for: Beginners who can use a machine. On this two day course you will learn all the basic techniques to make your own quilt and go home with a finished cot quilt or bed runner. You will learn to safely use a rotary cutter and quilting ruler, fabric selection and cutting, machine piecing your project, techniques to put your quilt together and baste it ready for quilting, machine quilting techniques and how to bind and finish your project.

Sarah has set up the Rowan Tree Studio in the beautiful Clovelly Estates property which has been constructed with a purpose built annexe designed for business with full disabled access and facilities. I have been a keen crafter since childhood and started teaching in London in 2008. I have taught at and run my own studio in north devon for the last 2 years. My speciality is Patchwork & Soap making which I teach to a high level. I have a GCSE in textiles and have run my own soap compan for 9 years giving me lots of valuable experience which I share

Course review:
On this two day course you will learn all the basic techniques to make your own quilt and go home with a finished cot quilt or bed runner. You will learn to safely use a rotary cutter and quilting ruler, fabric selection and cutting, machine piecing your project, techniques to put your quilt together and baste it ready for quilting, machine quilting techniques and how to bind and finish your project. Along the way you will learn all the quilting jargon as well as what equipment you will need to buy and some other simple techniques such as applique. This is a comprehensive course with full notes to take home with you and plenty of time to learn and enjoy the company of other new quilters. It includes a light lunch on each day and plenty of tea, cakes and cream teas! Backing, wadding and binding fabric provided all you need to bring is 1/2 metre of 3 different fabrics plus an additional half metre of co-ordinating fabric for binding. Or if you are extra thrifty 3 cotton mens shirts, plus half metre of co-ordinating fabric.
