Costs and equipment 16-18 year olds will not have to pay tuition fees, awarding body registration or exam fees. However they are required to pay for other third party costs, such as books, equipment and educational trips/visits. Students aged over 19 on the start date of their studies, have to pay tuition fees. In addition they are expected to pay awarding body registration and exam fees, other third party costs, such as books, equipment and educational trips/visits. Some students may be eligible for a fee concession, although in most cases some element of the fees will have to be paid. You may be entitled to a reduction if you are eligible for financial support. Course programme
This course focuses on practical activity but includes some written theory and portfolio building, consists of the following units:
- CSA-L1Core01 Health, safety and welfare in the construction and associated industries.
- CSA-L2Core04 Understanding information, quantities and communication with others.
- CSA-L1Core03 Knowledge of construction technology.
- CSA-L1Occ11 Prepare and use carpentry and joinery power tools.
- CSA-L2Occ40 Set up and operate cutting and shaping machinery.
- CSA-L2Occ59 Produce setting out details for routine joinery products.
- CSA-L2Occ60 Mark out from setting out details for routine joinery products.
- CSA-L2Occ61 Manufacture routine joinery products.
At this intermediate level, working in our simulated workshop environment, you will learn a wide variety of practical skills (and theoretical knowledge) which will prepare you for working in a Joinery workshop. Items of joinery to make are: doors, windows, frames, linings, units and
fitments and staircases. There will be a number of theory assessments with a final practical assignment to complete the qualification.
