These training days will provide and support the candidate with the theory and practical experienced required for the BHS Riding and Road safety test
Taken by more than 4,000 candidates a year, the Riding and Road Safety Test helps educate riders in road safety in order to minimise the risk involved when riding on the roads. The test is available to all riders from 12 years of age and is supported by the Department for Transport.
It is not essential to own a horse to train as the college can provide them for the training sessions and the test
The training will cover both the theory and practical aspects of riding horses on the road in accordance with the Highway Code and the BHS Riding and Roadcraft guidelines
Additional information
The BHS Riding and Roadcraft book and the Highway Code should be purchased prior to the course and brought to the training sessionsYou will need to bring pen and paper for the theory sessions
You will require to wear for the exam white or 'high viz' gloves along with a riding hat to current H&S/BHS standards and a short whip
Sessions/Assessments
The exam MUST be booked direct with the BHS prior to the course starting.
Exam 2015 is 10th April and is held by BHS at Myerscough College
Please be aware exams close two weeks prior to the exam date. Entry will close at 5pm on the 27th of March for the 2015 exam.
