The course explores how we can use engineering principles to tackle some of the biggest challenges in healthcare and medicine.

Year One is your introduction to the fundamentals. We also encourage you to start thinking like a professional: in the Global Engineering Challenge, you will work alongside other students on a week-long project to solve a problem set by one of our industrial partners.

As a second-year student, you will start to specialise in one of these three areas: Biomedical Engineering; Medical Devices and Systems; or Biomaterials and Manufacturing and Biomaterials Science and Tissue Engineering.

From the second year onwards, you'll specialise in one of these four streams: biomedical engineering; medical devices and systems; biomaterials science and tissue engineering; biomanufacturing.

In the fourth year, you will work on an individual project related to your specialism.

Our Scientific Writing module will teach you how to communicate your work to different audiences - both technically within the academic field, and to the wider public.

The final year is dedicated to pure project work.
