This innovative degree, developed in partnership with the Leeds University Business School, provides a comprehensive understanding of the broad scope of biology and associated biotechnology together with the essentials of business and commerce
Biology is the study of life, addressing the whole organism from molecules to entire ecosystems. You’ll cover the key areas of molecular biology, cellular biology, organismal biology and population biology.
This course will teach you biology that has impact together with an awareness of commercial opportunities, allowing you to implement your biological knowledge for the benefit of society across a wide range of employment options.
In your third year, you’ll have the chance to apply your knowledge and explore the potential of your ideas through an enterprise development project.
Our integrated Masters offers you an additional year of specialist training. You’ll be introduced to advanced topics and undertake an extended research project

Course programme
In Year 2, you will continue to study biology and the continued development of your skills will be supported through modules that integrate regular tutorials, laboratory practicals and data-handling exercises. You will also gain a more focused insight into the essential elements of the business world.
In Year 3 you will continue a coordinated programme of biology and enterprise to develop a broad range of skills. There is strong emphasis on independent learning, problem-solving and data analysis taught in the context of biology. You will complete an extended individual project as part of a research group in the School of Biology. You will also continue to develop your understanding of business practices in preparation for your project in enterprise.
Integrated Masters (MBiol)You can study the Biology with Enterprise degree as an MBiol.
Years 1 and 2 are the same as for the BSc and provide a foundation in both Biology and Enterprise management.
In Year 3 you study compulsory and optional modules in both biology and enterprise, together with an Enterprise Development Project. In Year 4 you will study a range of Masters-level modules and undertake an extended research project. This helps to develop the high-level research and professional skills that will serve you well in your future career.
