The objective of this programme is to introduce students to an interdisciplinary approach to research, which utilises technologies and skills from a wide spectrum of scientific, engineering and clinical disciplines to address fundamental questions originating in biology and medicine. The MSc is intended to introduce students to science and engineering disciplines they would not have covered in their undergraduate studies.

About this course
Second Class Honours, Grade 2 in any science or engineering Level 8 degree. Candidates with less than Second Class Honours and with three years relevant practical experience may also be considered. IELTS score of 6.0+ (with not less than 5.5 in any one component)

Course outline
The first two semesters consist of taught courses that will acquaint students with the basics of biology, chemistry and physics depending upon their backgrounds. Also during the first two semesters there will be a series of practical sessions that will familiarise students with different forms of instrumentation and techniques. During the final part of the programme, a research project will be undertaken. The final grade will be determined from a combination of taught courses, practical sessions and the research project.
Career opportunities
Graduates have found employment in research and development in medical devices or pharmaceuticals in an industrial or acamedic setting, medical device sales, work in hospital laboratories, and further postgraduate studies.
